Diesel Mileage | Technology

It is very important to know the fuel mileage of a car. Fuel mileage is how much fuel it takes to power a car or truck to drive a certain distance. Fuel mileage is also sometimes called fuel economy. It determines how much gas you will use up every time you drive a particular distance. It's important to take note of the fuel mileage of your vehicle because the more miles you can go on a certain amount of fuel, the more money you save on refueling your vehicle.

Some people confuse fuel mileage and fuel economy with fuel efficiency. Actually, these terms don't mean the same thing. Fuel efficiency is how efficient an engine is in terms of converting fuel to energy. Today, most cars have increased fuel efficiency because of various technological developments. Fuel efficiency does not determine the distance your car can go, though, because even if your car's engine is fuel efficient, it may still have bad fuel mileage because the car is too heavy. For example, in many developed countries, like the United States, many people drive large cars and trucks like Escalades and Hummers that are not fuel efficient.

With the increasing costs of fuel, fuel mileage and fuel economy are terms that people are getting more and more familiar with. This is why people are increasingly turning to the use of vehicles with diesel engines. These vehicles are generally more fuel efficient because they use diesel fuel. A tank of diesel fuel allows a vehicle to go farther than a tank of gasoline does. In addition, diesel fuel is usually less costly, although there are taxes and/or standards imposed on diesel fuels in certain areas that make it cost more. Nevertheless, diesel continues to gain popularity because of its efficiency and better fuel economy.

As a result of better fuel mileage from diesel engines, the use of diesel fuel continues to rise. The next time you buy a car, it might be a good idea to consider one with a diesel engine, especially if diesel costs less than gasoline in your area. Lower cost or not, using diesel fuel still guarantees you one thing: you get better results, because you can go farther on the same amount of fuel.
