There are a number of ways to begin talking to women you're interested in and many women you can approach. However, the biggest thing on men's minds is "What do I say?" If you go up and just say "Hi" you can have that awkward pause, as it becomes clear you have nothing else to say and just wanted to meet her. To solve this, the opinion opener was created. This type of opener was popularized by Neil Strauss and Mystery.

Opinion openers work because they recognize two key truths about women: they love to talk and are very opinionated. By asking the women their opinion on something, you have a built in conversation piece to talk about, and can occupy any awkward silences that can come up the first few minutes.

Here is one example of an opinion opener you can use on some women tonight:

"Hey guys, I just have a minute, but I need a female opinion on something. Do you think if a guy invites a girl to a ball, he should pay for her cover?" Most of the time, they'll say yes.

Go on with "Well get this, my friend invited this girl he knows to a Halloween party and she wants him to pay both her ticket AND her sister's, and even to reimburse her for what she's wearing. Is that fair?"

Immediately, the women will respond with "No way! Tell him to drop the witch!" This will spring open more topics such as Halloween, relationships, etc. You now have enough rapport with them to talk about other things as well. Get off opening topic soon and go on to something else, or the energy will start to really stagnate.

Other opinion openers include:

"My cousin is starting a punk rock band and he needs a name for it. What do you think is a better name, The Low Snakes or PowerBuzz?"

"My friend Natasha has been talking to this guy online for like 3 months, had a great connection, and they were going to meet, but she just saw a recent photo of him and he's -ugh looking. What should she do?"

Make sure that each opinion opener begins with "Hey guys, I need a quick opinion on something, before I get back to my friends." Having a false time constraint within the opener lets the girls know you're not sticking around forever, so they'll be more willing to talk to you.

The opinion opener is best for men just beginning to open women in bars and clubs. Even if your delivery and body language are off, the women will usually answer and talk to you. It can take some time to get used to a new opener, but keep at it, and watch your success go up.
