Besides the pretty country sides that you can drive through in the out of the way places, there are all kinds of recreational activities that can be enjoyed. Not far from the big metropolis its self is the grand Stone Mountain. It is one of the largest solid granite rock formations in the entire world. It is totally climbable and people do it all the time. The view from the top is breathtaking and well worth the hike up.

If you enjoy parks to walk in then you can visit the famous Piedmont Park and adjacent to that is the beautiful Atlanta Botanical Gardens. If you enjoy beautiful architecture, you might want to tour the Georgia state capital building.

If you enjoy a southern brand of worship, you could sit in on a service at The Ebenezer Baptist church where there has been three generations of the Martin Luther King family residing. You might also wish to visit the High Museum of art that exhibits the classic and the contemporary.

If you have kids that will be tagging along, there is no other water park in the south that can beat White Water Atlanta. Then there is the famous Grant Park zoo. It contains the largest variety of wildlife from the world over in the entire Southeast.

If you love natural history and artifacts of all kinds, then you may want to visit Fernbank Science Center. This will be a fun, interesting, and educational place the kids will enjoy as well as you. It boasts a large planetarium where you can learn all about the stars and constellations.

If you plan a vacation any where in the Southeast you will not want to miss the opportunity to visit the historic city of Atlanta. It is filled with old South culture and charm with many types of entertainment everyone will be sure and enjoy.
