Durability

Cork flooring isn't as soft as the cork in your wine! It's actually very strong, it's one of the toughest flooring materials around. Unlike the majority of other wooden floors it doesn't scuff, and it is also moisture resistant. Some cork floors have been known to of lasted for over 100 years! What more could you expect from a flooring material? Cork is one of the flooring material used in the Library of Congress. Cork's very durable because it's elastic and so is very difficult to damage.

Aesthetics

Cork flooring looks unique, but in a very good way. It has a speckled look which is quite charming and is different to the normal wood grains that people opt for. There are of course different patterns that you can choose, you can choose different colors to tie in with any room. Because cork is fairly elastic it is very enjoyable to walk on, it's cushioned! Plus it insulates your floor so it's warmer and it offers some degree of sound insulation. It's great for people living in noisy apartment buildings.

Source

Cork flooring does actually come from a tree, but it's not made from the wood. It's actually made from the bark of the tree. This means that the whole tree does not have to be cut down in order to harvest the cork, and the bark will grow back. Cork farms exist where they do this over and over again, this means it's sustainable and environmentally friendly. The trees don't die once the cork has been removed, some trees are 200+ years old and still producing! Many people are becoming concerned with the environment. Sourcing flooring materials from a renewable source has got to be a good thing!
