How healthy is Nutro compared to other brands?
In all honesty, Nutro is a lower grade product that uses fillers instead of real meat.
Nutro does not make their product with human grade ingredients like many brands now do.
Under no circumstances could it be called human grade dog food.
Of course, this kind of food is more costly than brands like Nutro, but there are numerous healthier dog foods available to choose from.
I recommend Natural Balance dog foods as the best choice, and its available at a very reasonable price.
Nutro is not in the same category as Natural Balance or Blue Buffalo dog food, which use higher grade ingredients.
Nutro is most similar to the Waltham dog food brands which include Cesar, Chappie, Pedigree, etc.
Waltham pet foods target nutrition with convenience, as does Nutro.
The purchase price of Nutro is low, but over time you may end up paying more than you would spend if you fed your dog Natural Balance dog food.
Bones And Raw Food comes as frozen dog food, and it is fairly obvious that a BARF diet is the best you can give your dog.
However, this diet is a bit high-maintenance and might not be for ever dog owner, so your next best choice is to select a dry food like Natural Balance premium dog food, which contains only fresh ingredients that are of good enough quality to be consumed by humans.
This dog food is nutrient dense with high quality meats and absolutely no by-products, corn, wheat, gluten, soy, artificial flavors, artificial colors, sugars or chemical preservatives.
Because it uses wheat and its ingredients are not human quality meat, Nutro is not able to compete with this.
The dog food made by Wysong far surpasses the nutrition provided by Nutro--they go so far as to include cage-free pheasant in their formula, and its dried meat products contain an amazing meat content of 99.9%.
Not everyone can afford the $14 dollar price tag though.
It is important to consider the recent recalls when comparing dog food brands.
Fortunately for Nutro, their dry food was not affected by recalls.
The recalls did, however, effect many of Nutro's canned dog foods, as well as their feline lines.
