Labrador Retrievers are considered the world's most loved. Many pet owners will tell you not a single day passes that their labs don't make them happy. Unfortunately the popularity has become a draw back. Because of the fact that most people own Labradors, having one is sort of less of a thrill for some people.
Chocolate Labradors are a breed apart from their Yellow and Black relatives. In an era gone by, Chocolate Labradors were considered as genetic anomalies. If a Labrador puppy is born with a Chocolate coating, then it is considered to tainted or abnormal. Black Labradors were revered, Yellow ones were acceptable but Chocolate Labradors were persecuted.
In the past, only Yellow, Golden or Black Labrador's were considered as pure bred Labradors. Chocolate Labradors were considered a genetic anomaly. Unfortunately, like all witch hunts, Labradors born Chocolate colored were drowned and killed to erase it from the Labrador gene pool.
So it is such a relief for Labrador lover's that during the 1970's, Chocolate Labs were accepted as purebred Labrador retrievers. Dog breeders conceded and stopped considering Chocolate Labradors as genetic anomalies, because studies show that genetic mutation really did cause Labradors to have Chocolate pigmentation.
When a breeder shows you pedigree papers and registrations, be wary. Fake papers are a dime a dozen. Find a reputable breeder who really specializes in Chocolate Labradors. It may be a bit expensive, but you will be able to save yourself from future problems.
Instead, let me tell you that a breeder can actually be advised of whether a certain Labrador will produce Chocolate Labradors when bred with another. Knowing the statistics of colors that will be produced by a Labrador with a single breeding is important so that breeders can determine the stud pool, and the possibilities of producing a wide array of colors that the breeder wants.
Kids are fascinated with Chocolate Labradors due to their coloring. Feel safe and secured, it is safe to leave children with Labradors because they are very gentle and kind. You can see their gentleness because if they hold an egg in their mouth it won't even get a single crack. Do not mistake their fun loving ways for hyperactivity. Chocolate Labradors are fond of vigorous exercise.
However, if you are one of those lucky ones who will and can find Chocolate Labradors, be responsible. Take care of your Chocolate Labrador, make sure that you are ready for the arrival of the puppy and that you have everything he needs. Prepare the place in which he is to stay in. Provide proper love, care and attention, and you will reap the rewards of having a Chocolate Labrador.
