Your dominant feelings about yourself, any negative feelings regarding self-worth, serve to color your thoughts. And it is your thoughts which ultimately drive your actions. It is the actions you take which determine your life's outcomes. So if your life isn't quite panning out in the way you want it to, you need to spend some time thinking about whether low self-esteem has something to do with it.
If you really wish to achieve your goals you need to take consistent and massive action. It is true that one of the biggest reasons that most people do not achieve their goals is because they give up on them much too early. If your self-esteem levels are high you are much more likely to be able to summon up the determination and stamina to see your plans through to a fruitful conclusion.
However, if you are constantly critical of yourself, then these feelings will lower your self-esteem. If you have low self-esteem, then it will be more difficult to take the right actions to enable you to achieve your goals. This link between thoughts and actions is what keeps you from getting started or what causes you to give up.
You must learn to think positively if you are to have any chance of conquering your self-doubt. Give yourself full credit for everything you've already achieved in your life - and don't tell me you haven't achieved anything, because I won't believe you.
Everyone has had their share of wins. Make a list of these accomplishments and what actions you took to make them happen. Think about the obstacles that you overcame or what special actions you took to reach each goal. This is a great way to acknowledge your successes and give your self-confidence a boost. Your list of wins will be the foundation that you build on for your future successes.
The central point you must remember is that there is a definite link between your thoughts and actions. You must take control of your thoughts and direct them into channels that will be beneficial to you. Whenever any doubts creep in, pull out your journal.
Negative thoughts should have no place in your life. Banish them. Every time you have negative thoughts that undermine your self-belief, you reduce your confidence and make it much harder to reach your goals.
Instead, tell yourself "I can". Positive thoughts bring confidence, optimism, and focused action which give you a much better chance of achieving your goals. "I can" is a great way to plant seeds in your mind for positive thoughts. The resulting high self-esteem will provide the extra edge that you need to drive away your fears and eliminate any doubt that keeps you from accomplishing your goals.
