I am a firm believer in continued education. This includes the Internet Marketing field BUT do you really need a coach or a mentor?

The answer is, it depends. (Don't you hate that answer?) I have had numerous coaches and mentors in the Internet Marketing field some have helped some haven't, but overall the programs have increased my income significantly.

I won't be telling you which ones worked the best for me out because the ones that didn't work for me worked for other people. Whether it will work for you depends on you.

* What your expectations are and what level you are at.

* How well you relate to your coach.

* How much you work at it.

* And believe it or not how much you BELIEVE in the program will make a big difference.

Your Expectations - Before you get into any coaching program you should have some sort of goals already set up. When you look at a coaching program you need to know if it will move you closer to your goals. These are the expectations you will set for the coaching program. These expectations should give you a good idea of what level of marketing you are at. The program must match your level of experience of you might be wasting your money.

If you are just starting out you will need a coaching program that will teach you all the basic strategies that you will need to get started. These will be things like outsourcing, getting a website up and running, product creation, lead generation, traffic and the list goes on.

For the beginner you should look for a low cost program that lasts a long enough period of time for you to learn the information and to take action on what you have learned while you are in the coaching program, 3 to 6 months is good for this. The reason you must take action before the program is over is because if you have problems you want to be able to contact the coach to get an answer.

Relating to Your Coach - If you have a personal or ethical difference with your coach, you probably won't get much out of the coaching program. For this reason you want to do a little research on your coach. Sign up to their newsletter, read their blog, review their product get a feeling for them and decide if they are some one you can work with. If you are not sure you can work with them be very careful before you spend you money.

Does your coach need to be a "Guru" or an expert at everything? No, to be honest there is no one that knows everything. You need a coach that is capable of moving you from the level you are at to the next level. This means that your coach only has to be a little farther along then you are.

How Much You Work At It - There is no free lunch, there is no magic button you can push that will make you an overnight success. You will have to actually take the actions recommended by your coach if you want your coaching to succeed.

You should have some projects assigned by your coach through the program. Don't skimp on the effort you put into the projects. If you just do the minimum necessary to finish the project you will only get the minimum out of the coaching program. Do the projects and do them again until you understand the purpose of the project as well as you coach does. Maybe even better.

Believe - Your mental approach to coaching is more important than any other aspect. You must believe you are going to get the results that you set up in your expectations.

For example if your expectations are to make an extra $1,000 per month because of this coaching program you have to have a mindset where you BELIEVE you will be making that at the end of the program. If you don't believe you won't put as much effort into it and the more effort you put in the better your results will be.

This also applies to the hype that you hear from the coach when you are signing up. If the coach tells you that you will have a five figure income per month at the end of the coaching then you need to believe that. If you don't believe what they are telling you, and I mean believe 100% of what they say, think twice before you spend the money on coaching.
