It may be that we find that we are up against a project that we simply cannot start or finish. This is usually caused by information overload, or perhaps by a lack of direction. It doesn't matter why it happens, when it does, it can stop you dead in your tracks. If you find that a creative mental block is keeping you from being productive in your work, perhaps you could make use of some of the brainstorming techniques that have been used in the past.
People have been involved in brainstorming sessions for years, and for good reason. Not only can it help us to produce new and unique ideas, it can give us the push that we need to break through a difficult mental barrier. Here are some particularly effective brainstorming techniques that have proven to be effective.
* Just Write it - Write something down, it doesn't matter what it is. Any thought that comes into your mind, put down on paper. This is one of the best ways to unclog a busy mind and get the ideas flowing again.
* Put it in List Form - Everything that you know about the project should be put down in an outline. Any major points should stand out and then the minor points should be arranged in their corresponding category. This will help you to see the project broken down into it's smaller parts.
* Question Yourself - at times, it's good to get back to basics. By asking yourself basic questions, you will be able to get inside the mind of those who are going to be viewing the finished product. These questions typically include what, where, how, when and why.
* Get'r Done - Make sure that you set limits on the time in which you or your group will be brainstorming. This will help you to stay focused on the task and give you some incentive to move on to the creative phase of your project.
By using a brainstorming session effectively, you will be encouraging the creation of new ideas. This works well if you are alone or in a group. It can really keep you focused the basics of your project and get something started.
The type of brainstorming projects that you can do are certainly not limited to the ones that are listed in this article. The ones that are outlined here, however, do help you to focus on what you are doing. By doing this, you will be certain to be motivated and keep it going until it is complete
