So you've got your very first guitar and you don't know how to strum or pick a single note and you are frustrated because you just want to be able to bang out a stunning guitar lick that will have your friends and family left in utter amazement. How do I know? Well I had a first guitar too once and I definitely needed some tips to learn to play the guitar because I couldn't pick a note, couldn't form a chord and even when chords were found, they were next to impossible to form. In order to learn to play the guitar you are going to need to consult some exterior sources whether it is a guitar teacher, an online source or some literature from the local music store.

Learning To Read Music

In trying to learn to play the guitar one of the biggest challenges is that you need to be able to read music. If you don't know how, don't get discouraged because there is some wonderful news for you. This is an astonishing fact that is going to just dumbfound you and that is that the sector of guitarists, are the biggest group on musicians that do not know how to read music. Most people pick up a guitar or acquire on through someone and learn to pick and play a bit through various methods and when they become really good guitarists, they are still too busy to actually really learn how to read the music notes on the song sheets.

Fear not however, these guitarists aren't stupid, only that many of them don't know how to read music and that doesn't mean they couldn't learn to play the guitar because they did, they do and they still do to this day. With that said however, it is imperative to point out that it was these very guitarists who were frustrated with trying to understand the musical notes and came up with a system called guitar tablature. In helping to learn to play the guitar it is much easier than musical notes and shows you clearly on which string to pick and what fret and string to be on. It is a very effective tool to learn to play the guitar and guitar tab can even now be purchased from music stores with all the latest and popular songs to learn!
