1. Drowning: 2nd leading cause of children’s death
Kids just love swimming. Whether in the bathtub, the lake, the beach or the pool, you always see children laughing and playing in the water. Water can be fun but it can be dangerous too. Studies show that the second leading cause of unintentional injury-related death in children between 2 to 14 years old is drowning. Every year, 1,000 children die of the said cause, 1/3 of such arise from swimming pool accidents. This numbers can be alarming. In fact, it takes only 5 minutes or less and a water level of below 2 inches for a kid to drown. Most of the drowning incidents among ages one and below occur in home bathtubs. For ages between 1 to 4 years, drowning commonly happens in private pools, while kids between 5 to 14 years old often drown in open water sites. Most of these incidents occur because of the following reasons: 1. Absence of or minor adult supervision Most of the parents mingle and talk to one another while their kids play and swim in the pool. The next thing they know, their kids are already missing or drowning. It is not enough that the parents just stay there beside the pool. They have to give their children their full attention in order to prevent them from getting hurt. The best thing to do is accompany them and swim with them. 2. Negligence of the pool owners or caretakers to maintain the facility Many owners pay no attention to the maintenance of their pools. They let their children swim without even noticing that the drain is busted which can cause drain entrapment or the pump is damaged which can cause electrocution. 3. Defective or non-installation of safety nets, gates or fences Always enclose the premises. You will never know when accidents may occur. Also, provide water level marks on the side of the pool. Other causes of pool accidents include: 1. Manufacturing or design defects of spas hot tubs, pools and other facilities; 2. Lack of or inadequate training of lifeguard; and 3. Floating swimming devices. How to prevent pool-related injuries: 1. Guard your children – parents have the number one responsibility of watching over their kids, especially when they are in the water. If you lose sight of your child, check the water first. Remember, every second counts! It takes only minutes for a child to drown or to get hurt. 2. Maintain the facilities – always check if the pool is in good condition. Sharp edges, broken pumps and smashed tiles can be other causes of water-related injuries. Also ; 3. Clean the amenities – unclear water, slippery floors, among others can also hurt someone. Always make sure that the water and the facilities are clean. 4. Install gates and fences – always enclose your pool or open water sites in order to prevent other people, especially children to enter the premises without supervision and authority. If you will not be using your pool, install a net in order to prevent others from falling in on the water. 5. Learn CPR - It takes a while before the paramedics arrive. It is better if you know how to apply precautionary measures in case water-related incidents occur. 6. Drowning Injury Claims Lawyer – if you or a loved one had been involved with a drowning injury, consult your claim with a lawyer. Lawyers with the necessary knowledge and expertise on drowning injury claims can assist you in the best legally possible way.

2. Personal Injury Attorney
Personal Injury Lawyer to the Rescue Injuries happen all the time and most of the time there is not a lot that could have been done to prevent it. Most of the personal injuries that are sustained are due to vehicle accidents, truck accidents, auto accidents, bicycle accidents, motorcycle accidents, and even pedestrian accidents. These injuries often see people accused of negligent personal injury and this may be because of driving under the influence, driving too fast or just plain carelessness while driving. If it is really bad and a wrongful death occurs, a personal injury lawyer will be called in to assist both parties. A personal injury lawyer is needed more and more in the Florida area as more and more people drive carelessly. There are also a lot of pedestrians and cyclists in this area who have become victim to unfortunate auto accidents. These may seem like pure accidents where everyone is sorry and forgives each other, but not always. In the case of a bad personal injury you have the right to claim for your medical expenses, hospital fees, long term treatment and medication with the help of a personal injury attorney. This lawsuit will be filed against the person responsible for your injuries and it will be up to a judge to say whether the claim is justified or not. If you want to get money out from your incident, you will need to get the best personal injury lawyer you can find who has detailed knowledge of personal injury law and who will make sure you get your money out. They are one of the first people you should call once you have been involved in an accident of any kind. Even if you find later on that no one is to blame and that there is no real lawsuit to file, you should still call your personal injury attorney to assess the situation and make the reasonable assumptions and recommendations as the event unfolds. They are not going to be able to help you that much if you go to them 2 months later wanting to file a lawsuit. This is why it is very important to have a lawyer like this on your side even before you have an accident. Join a law firm or find a private lawyer who understands the ins and outs of Florida law pertaining to vehicle accidents and personal injury. They will just be there in case anything happens to you, and if on the other hand you are responsible for a pedestrian accident or a bicycle accident or even a car accident, you will have a lawyer right away to help you in case the tables are turned and you face a lawsuit yourself. With slip and fall injuries also being very common, this lawyer can also be of great assistance even if you just happen to slip and hurt yourself in a shopping mall. This will help you a great deal and you can be sure that all your unforeseen medical bills will be covered.

6. Medtronic Recall Lawyers
Medtronic Sprint Fidelis Recall Sprint Fidelis is a product of Medtronic Inc., which is one of the world’s largest medical technology companies based in Minneapolis. Sprint Fidelis leads are cardiac electrodes that connect cardiac devices such as cardioverter-defibrillator or cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator to the heart. These electrodes play a very important role in maintaining regular heart rhythm in patients with heart problems. These electrodes are meant to give an electrical shock to bring the heart rhythm to normal whenever fatal heartbeat rhythms are detected. Patients who face the risk of cardiac arrest are fitted with these defibrillators through a surgery. Medtronic recalled this product in October 2007. The recalled models include Sprint Fidelis – 6930, 6931, 6948 and 6949. It is a voluntary suspension by Medtronic after they found out that the leads had fractures which can lead to malfunctioning of the equipment. They may cause shocks that are not appropriate or they may stop functioning. As a result Medtronic not only recalled their product but also advised physicians to stop implanting their product any further and all the unused leads had to be returned to the company to ensure that there are no further implantations. This news has made many people who had undergone heart surgery to panic as they were not sure whether they also have a Sprint Fidelis lead implanted in them. Patients are advised to contact their physicians to get further guidance. The normal course of action has been that they are advised not to remove the existing lead as the risk factors are higher than retaining a lead with fractures. Alternatively, a replacement lead can be placed without removing the existing lead. However, the tip of the existing lead has to be capped with a plastic insulation. Prior to any form of treatment the patients have to be reviewed for symptoms such as multiple shocks, fainting, light headedness, or palpitations. If such symptoms are to be evident then they have to take alternative course of action as per the guidance of their cardiologists. There are allegations that the fracture in Sprint Fidelis may have caused few reported cases of death. Some serious injuries to the heart have also been reported where the diagnosis indicate fracture in Sprint Fidelis as a possible cause. It has been estimated that almost 268,000 leads have been implanted worldwide as of October 2007 and out of that almost 172,000 leads have been implanted in the United States. Medtronic, though it has voluntarily withdrawn the product, it has lost its credibility in the medical circles. As one of the leading medical technology companies, it had many other types of medical equipment. People have started doubting all the other products from Medtronic. It is the responsibility of the physician to keep the patient informed about the products that they will be using during a medical procedure so that the patient can decide to choose a different product with the guidance of the physician. Medical recalls always raise moral questions on the issue of negligence by the medical companies that do not put their products to complete test before releasing the product. Those who have been affected have to be duly compensated.
