A series of information sessions about Australian Work Visas and employment for overseas workers will be presented by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) on Monday, the 28th of April 2008 in Western Australia's Kalgoorlie.

The Overseas Workers workshop will provide advice on Australian Work Visa programs that allow migrants from all over the world to fill skilled, semi-skilled and seasonal employment vacancies in the region.

Designed for both employers and their overseas workers, topics in the sessions include the Working Holiday Maker visa program, Skilled Migration options, Employer-Sponsored visa categories, worker entitlements and employer obligations.

"We are delighted to have this opportunity to provide information on the range of visa options available to businesses and their employees," a spokesman from the Australian Immigration Department said.

This Overseas Workers seminar has been organised by the Australian Immigration Department in conjunction with industry groups and other state and Commonwealth government agencies based in the Goldfields.

"This is a unique partnership of governments and industry that has identified information needs for employers in the region and their overseas staff," the departmental spokesman added.

If this Overseas Workers seminar is successful, the Immigration Department would consider conducting it in other regional centres in Australia.

This initiative is being developed in conjunction with the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Goldfields Esperance Development Commission, the Goldfields Area Consultative Committee, as well as the Goldfields Small Business Centre.

Advice will also be available on family migration and citizenship processes.
