Chances are you'd love to save money by shopping at one of warehouse clubs, but since you have to buy items in bulk, you might not think you have enough storage space available. Perhaps you just need to get your pantry organized. And adding pantry shelving just might free up the space you need.
It doesn't matter if you live in a large home or a small apartment, proper shelving will increase your storage space by making sure you use all your available space well.
You probably are storing small spice bottles, large juice containers and everything in between. Getting it all organized and easy to reach can be a challenge. The right shelving will make it easier to meet that challenge.
There are several things you should consider to get the job done right.
1) The first thing to consider is using door and wall racks. You'll need a door that swings open for this and not a sliding door. Use these racks as the perfect area for small items. Spices, small baking items, those little envelope mixes and other smaller items will fit perfectly.
2) Under shelf baskets are a great place to store things like kitchen towels, paper plates etc. Just slide one of these sturdy baskets underneath an existing shelf. Works especially well if you shelves were built with wide openings.
3) If you want to get the most out of your existing space use stacking shelves. Just put one on top of another and you have a great place to store canned foods. And you can get them in many different heights and lengths so you're sure to find ones that fit your available space perfectly.
4) This one is not for everyone, but if you drink wine or some other bottled item, you can create space by using a portable wine rack. You just need to make sure you have the space available to place it.
5) If you have an odd shaped space in your pantry, use D-shaped shelves to make a perfect area to store canned goods or boxed items like cake mixes. These will turn independently of each other inside a cabinet.
6) Gravity feed racks are another great way to store canned items, especially if you typically have a lot of cans of the same item. The rack stands upright. You put the cans in on top, and when you need one, take it from the bottom. The others fall right into place.
7) For smaller items like spices, consider getting a tier organizer. These will let you easily see and get to the items as you need them.
8) One of the more popular ways to get organized is by using pull out shelves. Simply put them into a cabinet, hutch or your existing shelves. These make great space savers and allow you to simply pull out the shelf when you need something in the back, and push it back in for storage.
9) One final space saver is the turntable. You can fit these just about anywhere and they make it easy to reach items in the back. Simply spin it around until the item you want is now in the front.
All of the above ideas can help you get organized. And all can look great as well. Experiment a little and find what works best for you. Soon you'll be getting the most out of the available space in your pantry.
