Are you going nuts with small bathroom remodeling? The cramped space can leave you little to work with but it doesn't have to be a chore. There are techniques and tools that you can use to give you a better looking bathroom.

Remove Barriers If You Can

The most straightforward advice is to simply remove walls and expand. The question is whether you really have the energy and time to deal with all the work involved in major remodeling. Aside from building new walls, you also need new plumbing On top of all these, the expense of having to knock down walls is quite big.

Get Small Features

Removing a wall may not be practical or feasible. If this is the case, then you have to stick with what you can work on at the moment. You might not have noticed but you may have large bathroom fixtures that contribute to making the space seem more cramped. Replace any of the fixtures that are extra large in size with smaller ones. Just make sure that you can fit comfortably in a smaller tub or toilet.

Hang Some Objects

You may have storage spaces beneath sinks, vanities and anywhere else on the floor. These can further limit the space you can move around on. Do away with the storage areas on the floor. You may instead opt for free floating ones. These include small overhead cabinets, metal racks and hampers that can hang on hooks. Your sink can also be free floating so you can save floor space.

Use Light Colors on Everything

You can't have small bathroom remodeling without the right colors. For small bathrooms, light colors always work best. This is because darker shades always tend to make spaces seem smaller. Match light colored paint, fixtures and tiles. If you want to include some wall or tile designs, make sure that the figures are small. Large ones can contribute to making the space feel cramped.

Use Light

Letting in the light can make a room bigger than it really is. Whenever possible, grab the opportunity to let in natural light. You can do that by making your side window larger. A skylight can also be an option. If having an opening in your bathroom is not possible, then choose good artificial lighting.

Use Mirrors

Mirrors are also great additions to your bathroom. If you put them in the right places, you can create the perception that the bathroom is spacious. Do avoid though, putting large mirrors with intricate border designs. These can make your small bathroom look funny.

Put Fixtures Against Walls

Make sure that your fixtures are all hugging the walls. This is especially true for your toilet and bath tub. Set these fixtures very close to the walls so you have more free space at the center. As for your sink, you actually have more options here. You can pick corner sinks or corner wall sinks.

There is still so much more to small bathroom remodeling. The truth is that you can never really run out of great ideas. The only limit is your imagination.
