Have you seen dried flowers before? Not the kind that dry naturally on the plant. The people who are so fond of preserving flowers are mostly women and artists. Women, most particularly young ones, are those who take some of the flowers they received from someone special and let the flowers dry by inserting them in their books, notebook, or diaries. It may sound corny to you, but it does happen. Another way to preserve your favorite fresh flowers is to air-dry them by hanging them upside down or freeze-dry them.

The reason why certain people like to keep dried flowers is mostly to preserve the memories of a special occasion or someone. Even if carefully dried, flowers are not everlasting. Dried flowers may be less prone to damage than fresh ones, but they are also susceptible and can't be preserved the way you want it if you don't give extra effort and time to take good care of them. Therefore, you have to learn how to ideally preserve your favorite flower and below are some of the tips on how.

To start with, the colors of flowers eventually fade and there's nothing you can do to stop the process. However, you can still do something about to keep their color by using aerosol paints and dyes. You just slightly tint the petals and stems of your dried flowers to somehow maintain the fresh appearance.

The next thing you should know about is potential damage caused by insects such as beetles, roaches, and many others. See to it that the containers you are putting in the flowers to dry are tightly closed so as not to let those insects to get into your preserved blossoms. Another way to prevent damages due to insects is to check from time to time the inner side of the container and if you find any, better take immediate action. You can sprinkle naphthalene flakes in the box or spray insecticides to get rid of the insects. As the saying goes: prevention is better than cure, which means all these problems can be avoided if you strictly check up on your dried flower container regularly.

Now that you know how to properly care for your preserved flowers, you should not forget the mere fact that even with extra care, your dried flowers won't last forever. But, don't let that thought spoil your day, instead enjoy them while you can.
