When you are trying to find a new tile floor you do not want to lose sight of the grouting that has to be done. It may seem like an easy choice but the grout color and the size of it is going to make a huge difference in the appearance of your new floor. before you are applying the grout you will need to think about these five steps first.

1. getting the right color

you want to get the right color because you are going to notice it when your floor is done. You can get the grout that you want in just about any color and you can even try and match the color of your tile if that is what you want. sometimes getting a color that contrasts the tile is better for the room. you should know that the white and lighter shades of grout will show the dirt easier and this may be a problem for you later on down the road. 2. Finding the right tools

You should get a good grouting knife to ensure that the grout is going to do well over time. You will need to get a spatula or trowel to help you make sure the grout stays level. You do not want to put too much grout over the tile. You want it to be smooth.

3. spacing the tiles

you need to make sure that the tile and the grout is the same space all over. you might want to take some extra time to layout your tiles and have the correct spacing before you glue then down. You may have to work fast once you start the glue process.

You can also buy spacers at your local hardware store. They will help to keep the tiles the right distance from each other and to make it look better.

You need to also make sure that your tiles are in the right place before you put the grout down. The grout will fill up the empty spaces between each other and you want your lines to look even.

4. sealing right

in order to keep your grout safe you need to use a sealer over it. this will help to keep the grout from damage or stains as with custom storm windows. You can find this item at your hardware stores as well. it may take a little bit of time to apply this protection but it is worth it.

5. maintaining your tile

cleaning your tile and keeping it looking good is important. You want to pay close attention to the grout because it will build up dirt fast and you need to keep it clean. You should also clear out all of the grout to make sure that you are taking out any dirt deep down. You can then apply more to make the tile look brand new.
