10. Antioxidant
Antioxidant Ask any grown up and the answer you get will be the same – everyone wants to look and become younger. A lot of research has undergone ways to produce a younger looking person. While the markets are flooded with anti-aging creams and moisturizers meant to make your skin young, there are other products which promote their being anti-oxidants. What are these anti-oxidants and how do they help in prolonging the life of a person or the cells, making people look younger? An antioxidant is that which stops the oxidation of the cells. In the process of ageing, the oxidation of cells leads to the ageing of the cells. Reduced oxidation or postponed process, therefore results in the prolonging the younger element in our body. Not just this, the anti-oxidants also help in finishing off the free radicals in our body. These free radicals are extremely dangerous to the cellular processes for any reaction of these free radicals with the cells might lead to chain reactions and cancer in the down turn. Thus, not just by delaying the process of ageing, the anti-oxidants also work by keeping us safe from various free radicals related illnesses. Even though anti-oxidants delay ageing, oxidation processes are also extremely important for the healthy body. However, it must be noted that despite all over activity of oxidizing agents in our bodies and low levels of anti-oxidants might cause a condition in our body called oxidative stress. Oxidative stress might lead to a further disease in the human body and results in the killing and death of the body cells. However, there are certain functions in our body, which do require the process of oxidation to take place. Therefore, it is established that the function of anti-oxidants in our body is simply to limit the oxidation agents and free radicals, instead of eradicating them all from the root. There are two types of antioxidants – water soluble (hydrophilic) and lipid soluble (hydrophobic). Depending on the type of antioxidant, these function in our body. The hydrophilic antioxidants work from inside the cell, reacting with the cytoplasm and blood plasme of the cell, while the hydrophobic antioxidants work by reacting with the cell membrane, keeping it safe from any outside damage. We can obtain the antioxidant agents and compounds from the intake of our diet, while in times of low antioxidant production, doctors also recommend the intake of artificially produced or medicated antioxidants. Most of the vitamins act as antioxidant agents. Intake of fruits and vegetables has shown resukts by reducing the oxidation processes in the body, while curtailing the symptoms of heart and other such diseases. Some of the food products which offer antioxidant comounds in our body happens to be carrots, acai, white tea, squash, broccoli, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, kale, collards, cantaloupe, peaches, apricots, oranges, lime, green peppers, broccoli, green leafy vegetables, strawberries and tomatoes, Nuts & seeds, whole grains, green leafy vegetables, vegetable oil, liver oil, fish & shellfish, red meat, grains, eggs, chicken and garlic etc. Besides these, some other products that can be used are Flavonoids or polyphenols, soy, red wine, purple grapes or Concord grapes, pomegranate, cranberries, tea, lycopene, tomato and tomato products, pink grapefruit, watermelon, lutein etc. Simply increase the intake of these few above mentioned products and have a safe and healthy life.

12. Home Remedy For Reducing Wrinkles
What Are Wrinkles And What Are Its Causes? Wrinkles are a common phenomenon for everybody as they age. There are ridges or crease appearing on the surface of the skin that we call as wrinkles. However, not everyone get wrinkles in the same proportion as they age. This is due to the fact that external factors play a good role in someone’s having wrinkles earlier than others. The major external factors include exposure to sun, smoking, poor hydration, different muscle contraction of the face etc. The most common cause of aging is of course genetic. With the aging process, the rate of skin cell division and reproduction slows down. The fat cells below are atrophied and results in less production of collagen and elastin that are important for the skin to be elastic. This results in the skin to sag as it looses its elasticity and form creases in the skin. The skin also is less able to absorb as well as retain moisture in this situation. The skin is thus not able to produce sweat and oil and the skin starts to become dry and scaly. As the cells of the skin are dividing as well as reproducing at lower rates, any wounds that occur on the skin takes more time to heal and there are scar formation on the skin surface. Another important reason for getting wrinkles on the face is contraction of the muscles of the face. This is generally caused by making repeated facial expressions. With the aging, the skin loses the elasticity and rebuilding ability. Hence, whenever, there are repeated facial expressions like smiling, frowning, brow furrowing or laughing, the skin loses the ability to bounce back. This is the cause of crow’s feet, frown lines as well s other wrinkles to appear on the skin. The third cause of aging is over-exposure to sun rays. The appearances of wrinkles are aggravated when the skin is exposed to UVA or UVB from sunlight. It is the overexposure to this sunlight that results in 90% of all the appearance of wrinkles. By the time a person reaches the age of 20, the major effects of sun damage are completed. In addition to the appearance of wrinkles, the UV rays make our body unable to heal its infection, skin disorders and cancer. The skin produces metalloproteinases enzymes to help the skin in producing collagen and heal itself. But, many of these metalloproteinases enzymes break down and corrupt the collagen which they are supposed to increase. This results in an over-formation of abnormally-formed elastin. All these factors together account for the formation of solar scars. As the imperfect skin formation happens repeatedly, there are occurrence of wrinkles and other premature aging signs on the skin. In a study conducted on sun damage, it has been found that when the skin is exposed to sun for only 15 minutes, light to medium skin tones had an increased level of metalloproteinases for about a week. The last cause of the appearance of wrinkles is smoking. It has been found that just smoking for 10 years can damage the skin irreversibly and at the same time speed up aging process.
