Regardless of how bad your credit score is, it is still possible for you to obtain a loan, while many assume it is not possible, that is not the case. You must remember that the vast majority of loans are home loans and when we talk of a home loan we are in fact talking about a secured loan. What this means is that you are offering up collateral on the loan in the event that you do not pay. While you not may realize that this collateral is being put up, it is, because the home itself is the collateral.

Unfortunately, just because loans are available to those who have bad credit, this does not mean that the interest rates are good. You are still considered to be a high risk even with the collateral and as a result the interest rates you will have to pay will be higher, and in some cases they may be extremely high.

The good news is, that as long as you only have bad credit and a bankruptcy, then if you take the loan at the high interest rate and pay on it for a couple years, then before you know it you will be able to refinance the loan with a better credit rating and as a result also get a much lower interest rate.

There may also be some rare circumstances associated with your loan and you might be able to get a better rate than others, but this of course is all dependent upon your credit score. Your personal bad credit history is potentially a lot better than another person's bad credit rating and therefore you will end up with a lower interest rate which also means easier to manage monthly payments - it really is all about the level of risk you present.

When choosing to apply for a loan knowing that you have a poor credit history, do not go to the bank, there is much more work involved with obtaining a bad credit loan and the bank representatives have little or no incentive to help you deal with the added hassle. Instead make your way to a mortgage broker's office that only makes money when they are able to secure the loan for you. This pay check is the incentive necessary to help you through all the added hoops you may have to jump through.

All in all, it is good to know that even though you may have a poor record, you still stand a very good chance of obtaining a loan. So when you see that home you want, it is worth putting in a little effort to try to get a loan approved.
