However they are very useful during the winter as they help to keep your room warm. 3. Hardwood floors may seem too good for your basement, however it's not unheard of. It's perfectly possible to install hardwood flooring in your basement. If your house is below sea level or next to a river the risk of flooding could rule this out as an option. Hardwood flooring is quite easy to damage due to water, so make sure you know what to expect.
