Last week I decided I wanted to go to the department store and pick up a few things for an upcoming wedding I have to attend in New York. There is nothing more pleasing than seeing your friends get wedded. It reminds you of your own ceremony and about how much fun you had.

Getting married is one of those life moments you will love and never forget. I started out at Sears and found a extraordinary photo album, which I engraved their names on. Then I headed off to the Nordstrom store to see if I could find a dress.

Awhile back, I was watching HGTV in high definition and they had a segment on weddings. I was admiring all the simple but pretty dresses several of the guests wore and wondered if I could get the same. Of course, everything always looks better in HD but I thought maybe they would appear just as neat outside of the high definition television.

I ended up putting on a few dresses I thought were like the ones on my HD TV but none of them really impressed me as much as the ones on the Fine Living station. I knew there had to be some sort of fakeness in that HD display.

The picture on an HD is always so nice and vivid, things in real life are just not bright, well, at least I didn't expect so. I ended up stopping on my way home at a bridal boutique. There were hundreds of bridesmaid dresses that I knew I wouldn't be able to get away with being only a regular guest.

I went to turn around when all of a sudden a spectacular beauty caught my eye. It was stunning! The color was almost exactly like one of the dresses I saw on the HD TLC station. It was impressive. I looked at the long gown and thought if maybe I could alter it a little so it didn't appear so much like a bridesmaid dress.

I tried it on and fell in love with it even more. I ran up to the counter to ask the salesperson if she had some ideas on how I could make this dress into more of a wedding guest dress. She suggested I just bring the hem up to make it a short dress.

Why didn't I think of that? I will have to ask my aunt to do it. I know she will be competent to do it, she used to sew a lot of our dresses as kids. I ended up purchasing the gown on clearance and hurried over to her house so she could get the alterations started in time for the ritual.
