COMMERCIAL AND ARTISTIC PHOTOGRAPHY
One picture is worth a thousand words. Every image hopes to convey more than what a thousand words can, at once and that too in an appealing and aesthetic manner. The demand for good photography will always be high. Photography is the process of recording images by means of capturing light on a light-sensitive medium, such as a film or electronic sensor.
Commercial photography can be classified into various types. In advertising photography the images are made to illustrate a product or service in order to market it for an advertising or design firm or for an in-house corporate design team.
Fashion photography normally incorporates models and emphasizes on the clothes or product and glamorizes the model. It can also cover models on the catwalk. Glamour photography is popularly used in men’s magazines and in advertising. Sometimes this kind of photography may use nude models. But this is not the case always.
Crime scene photography covers the scenes of crime such as robberies and murders. The main objective of this photography is to capture specific details. Still life photography covers inanimate objects that may either natural or man-made. It tends to typically have commonplace objects as its subject. Food photography is used for editorial, advertising or packaging purposes. It requires special skills to be able to present food in an attractive manner in images.
Editorial photography illustrates a story or idea. This shoot is normally assigned by magazines. Photo journalism may be considered a branch or subset of editorial photography as they are made in context of a piece of documentation or news story.
Fine art photography is made to express a creative idea, it is reproduced and sold directly to the customer. Landscape photography covers places of interests for tourists; it is normally used for books or postcards. Wildlife and nature photography covers nature including wild animals and birds in their various aspects.
