You can also get some by downloading programs that have spyware code embedded in them or opening emails from unknown senders, or even through known senders through spoofed "From" headers. Just like viruses, spyware is everywhere, especially if you surf the Internet regularly.

Having anti-spyware software installed in your computer can greatly reduce the risks brought about by spyware.There are so many anti-spyware products available on the market and on the Internet. Some are offered for free, and others cost money. Be careful when downloading "free" anti-spyware programs since they may also have spyware.

It is very important to have anti-spyware. Contrary to popular belief, having a firewall and antivirus software is not enough anymore. Not all antivirus programs can detect or remove spyware, and your firewall will not be of any use when you have spyware in your computer.Though some antivirus companies are now adapting to being able to protect against spyware, there is nothing wrong with getting another program that specifically targets spyware.
