This phenomenon is amazing but very few people are using it to its full potential. Aggregator sites provide you with the ability to compare car insurance quotes very quickly, and many also make it easier with easy to read tables. You can easily compare the cost of premiums, level of cover and even the individual elements of the policy within a few minutes whilst sitting in your lounge at home.

However, to say that aggregators have no disadvantages is not true. People tend to just look at the price when comparing individual policies and so do not know what the policy they choose actually has covered. This can leave them unprotected.

In most cases, the final price will be much higher, as Mr Bennett found out when trying to insure his Vauxhall Corsa 394 pounds as per the quote he was given. It actually cost him 479 pounds because he had no car alarm. This was not a question asked by the aggregator.

It maybe best if you just want to use a household brand name insurer to use the aggregator to compare only these quotes. This may save you a little time but probably not that much.

Going through an insurers website directly may be advantageous as the quotes are accurate because you are asked all of the relevant questions right from the start. It may be a little more time consuming but it does enable you to budget and check the policy details as well.
