Going to a nice coffee shop, you will definitely notice all the selection on the menu. It can be intimidating though if you aren't familiar with some of the basic terms. Once you understand them though you can decide if you want to try something beyond just a cup of coffee plain or with some flavoring in it.
However, if you understand a few terms then figuring out what is available on the menu won't be so difficult. You can take a chance and order something you may find to be delicious without hesitating. If the coffee shop is very busy it may be hard for the staff to take the time to explain it all to you. If you need their assistance try to ask questions during slower times of the day.
Not everyone likes coffee and that is understandable. Yet if a hot drink with some caffeine and a great taste is appealing to you, then try a cappuccino. You can get it plain or with a variety of great flavors added to it. This is a combination of espresso as either a single or double size. You will also find steamed milk in it for a smooth taste. The top layer will be delicious froth.
The latte has a great sound to it and you will hear those in line before you ordering it again and again. It contains mostly steamed milk with some espresso inside of it. This too comes in a variety of different flavors for you to enjoy. You can choose to have it stronger by getting a double shot of espresso in it.
Froth is what you will find at the top of the latte. You can get it on other types of drinks too if you ask for it. This is a very light and foamy top that tastes delicious. If you haven't tried it before you are really missing out on a treat. Pamper yourself and order something with froth the next time you get to a coffee shop.
For chocolate lovers, a mocha is perfect. This is very similar to the latte but it has chocolate flavoring included in it. Some people find it to be not as sweet as hot chocolate but not as bitter as coffee. It is the perfect in between drink for someone who visits a coffee shop and needs something new to try.
An espresso is another term that you will see quite a bit in coffee shops. This is a very strong type of coffee. It is dark and thick and many people order it in order to give them the caffeine they need to get their day going. You will find many drinks in coffee shops have espresso. It won't be uncommon to see signs that you can add another shot of it too for an additional price.
Learning these basic coffee shop terms will help you to understand just what all is being offered on that menu. That can make it less intimidating when it comes to ordering a drink you haven't tried before. That can be fun and exciting too as it will add some variety to your daily routine.
