What are Paid Surveys? | Home Business

As you've surfed the Internet, there is no doubt that you've probably seen ads offering to pay you for taking online surveys. The first thing you probably wandered when seeing these ads is whether or not they were legitimate. With all the scams that exist on the Internet today, it is easy to see why you are cautious.

The fact of the matter is that you can be paid for taking these surveys. They provide valuable information to marketing firms that they can either sell or use to market their own products. Because of the competition that exists between these companies, they have a keen interest in collecting statistical information from consumers.

By having access to this information, they will have an edge on the competition. In addition to surveys, many of these firms will also pay you for participating in focus groups or tests. Many of these marketing firms are directly connected to large companies. They will be paid by the larger companies to find out if their current marketing strategies are working.

However, you will also find that many ads promise to pay you hundreds of dollars per hour if you take their surveys. As the old saying goes, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." If you were actually paid that much per hour to take surveys, you would be making more money than lawyers and judges.

While it is very possible to be paid that much if you become a member of a focus group, most paid surveys will not pay you more than $20 each, and the ones that pay even this much are in the minority. Expect to be paid about $2 for each survey you take. Any ad that promises to pay you hundreds of dollars for a survey is probably trying to defraud you.

It should also be noted that there are a number of different paid surveys available. While some come in the form of surveys, others will come in the form of databases or directories. If you are using a true paid survey, the marketing company is the actual institution that will send you the information.

One of the most well known paid survey companies is NFO. They have been competing in this business for 20 years, and they have a great deal of experience. When you sign up to fill out a survey offered by NFO, you will be notified via email. You will be informed of how much you will be paid for the surveys you take, and you can either respond to the email, or you have the option of ignoring it. In most cases, it is best to be wary for companies that try to charge you in order to be given a list of companies that offer surveys.

First, you can look on the Internet and find the information yourself, and the company is trying to be a broker by offering you information that is readily available. Most legitimate companies will pay you to take surveys, and require nothing up front.
